Filed under: Facts and Tips — Rizzieri School of Massage @ 8:22 am

Rizzieri School for the Healing Arts, Massage Marlton: Anyone who has experienced a great massage can attest to the anecdotal evidence that they walked away feeling better. Massage has moved into top position as a treatment to help stressed people relax. It eases the tension on over-used, stiff muscles and lifts the spirits. But to top this off, receiving a great Marlton massage may help ease the symptoms of many illnesses.

Massage therapy leaps in popularity as a treatment and a career

Angela Shawn-Chi Lu/MEDILLEven one session of massage can decrease levels of the stress hormone cortisol and boost the immune system, according to a study in The Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine.

Massage Marlton“Sitting in a hallway of the Cortiva Massage Therapy Center in downtown Chicago, Jennifer Kaminski appeared ebullient-ready to take on anything in fact.

Few would guess she had just spent an hour in a dimly lit room, relaxing on her back, in almost complete silence, while a therapist stroked her muscles. Massages, however, have become a routine part of her life for stress reduction and relaxation.

‘I’d rather do this than take a pill,’ said Kaminski, associate dean of the business school at Robert Morris University in Chicago. ‘It’s not just some fluff, downtown spa. They’re actually doing something for your muscles. I always see this as a doctor’s visit.’”

Massage Therapy Helps Osteoarthritis – Rizzieri School for the Healing Arts in Marlton, NJ

Rizzieri Massage MarltonMassage therapy might be a good prescription for people with osteoarthritis, a new study suggests.

The cartilage that cushions the joints is constantly wearing away due to everyday activities and being replaced through healthy repair mechanisms. But as we age, the repair process slows down and the joint cushion thins. The result is osteoarthritis, marked by joint pain, stiffness, and physical disability.

As many as 21 million people in the United States suffer from osteoarthritis, the most commonly reported chronic condition in elderly people. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports that osteoarthritis causes more physical disability than lung disease, heart disease, and diabetes, and annual costs associated with osteoarthritis are estimated at $60 billion.

Essential Oils

Filed under: Facts and Tips — Rizzieri School of Massage @ 10:05 am

Rizzieri School for the Healing Arts recommends essential oils!

Essential oils are obtained from flowers and plants by steam distillation or expression. They are all natural and can help replace some of the synthetic products that you use.

According to the World Health Organization, some 80% of the world population relies on plant-derived medicine for their primary health care. In American society, many individuals incorporate plant properties into their lives through the use of essential oils and naturally derived products.

Why choose to put something synthetic on or in your body when there are safer natural alternatives? Derived from renewable resources, plant materials are biodegradable and for the most part nontoxic when used correctly.

Here are some ways you can incorporate essential oils into your everyday life. Most perfumes are made synthetically. If there is an Aveda aroma you like, buy it and splash it on your wrists and neck for a pure smell. If you are having a hard time sleeping, use a couple drops of chamomile on your pillow case at night. The calming smell will help you relax.

Foot and Hand Reflexology

Filed under: Facts and Tips,News / Events — Rizzieri School of Massage @ 11:36 am

Affordable Massage Therapist New Jersey offers Foot and Hand Reflexology

Foot and hand reflexology is an ancient form of natural healing. Reflexology is based on the premise that there are zones and reflex points on the hands and feet which correspond to all body parts.

The surface of the feet and hands represent a mirror image of the body. Stimulation of these reflex areas by applying specific pressures using thumb, finger and hand techniques result in stress reduction, relaxation, and detoxification naturally without the use of medicine. This change promotes the healing process, a natural tune up for your body.

Reflexology promotes balance, releases tension, increases energy and assists in eliminating toxins from the body. A few other benefits include relief of fatigue, neck and shoulder pain, acne, back pain, digestive problems, insomnia and sinusitis.
Reflexology is considered preventive medicine and can be incorporated along with massage therapy to promote overall wellness of one’s own body.
